Creations in Wood is owned by Colin and Ann Carlson. Colin's background is as a design engineer. Ann's background is 30 years in retail management. Colin loves working with wood, and has always made things for family and friends. The decision was made to see if they could turn what was previously a hobby into a viable business, so they spent the next 6 months making children's toys ready for their first craft fair in November and founded 'Creations in Wood' on September 1st 2002.

The first craft fair was a resounding success, with the best seller being a 'rocking snail' affectionately known as Brian (just for Magic Roundabout fans). They have just joined the Wales Craft Council and are pleased to tell everyone that they are proud to be Welsh!

The range of toys are made from three types of British wood, beech, birch and alder. These woods are provided from sustainable sources by the Welsh Forestry Commission.

Each and every product is completely unique, by virtue of the fact that no two pieces of wood are the same. All the wooden toys are tested thoroughly, and conform to EN71. Information on any of the specific wood used is available, as well as advice on caring for your product.

Creations in Wood are previous winners of: The British Toymakers Guild Cup (2003) and The Longleat Cup (2003).
